Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

I'm trying to remember what my sister and brother went through at their Catholic high schools when JPI and his predecessor both died--I think that they had memorial masses at the schools, and the new popes were announced over the intercoms, but that was about it.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I think the mass is a gimme, but we got out so many days for SB and Easter that I'd be surprised if we got a day off.

It's kind of sad, remembering the Pope when he first showed up, all energetic and young-ish and non-Italian. I don't think he ever came back all the way after being shot.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, god, I'm in a Catholic college for another five weeks. Ack.

I'm kinda wondering what all will happen at my school when the pope dies. More masses? A day off for mourning?

I wasn't in Catholic school when the last pope died but when our diocese's bishop died when I was in (Catholic) H.S. we got the day off. Way to make a bunch of kids go "WOOOOT" at your death.

On the CBC they said he received the anointing of the sick, not last rites. They are different, right? I haven't forgotten everything?

At least you get a few fond thoughts as you go.

Exactly! I want to see if I can arrange something like that at my passing. Like endow a day off at my old high school.

That would be ... well, nifty.

Huh. I have realized just now that tomorrow is April Fool's Day, and once again I have forgotten to plan an elaborate fannish prank to properly celebrate the day.

... or did I?

My coworkers are fairly prank-happy people. I'll kill them if they try anything.

No, no -- instead I think that when my spidey sense tells me that I'm about to be pranked, I'll just say, in that casually bored tone of a friendly neighborhood sociopath, "I can crash the servers, you know."
