I have marked Beth's post for oatmeal making tips. I've never made oatmeal with milk, soy milk I might try. I made instant oatmeal with orange joice once, because the packaging suggested it was a good idea. I don't really remember whether it was or not.

I like the taste of oatmeal, but not the texture. I love oatmeal raisin cookies and oatmeal bread, but the breakfast slush makes me shiver.
This would be me. In fact, I am so scarred by being forced to eat the breakfast slush as a child that the smell of cooking oatmeal can make me a bit queasy.
